72-Hour / 144-Hour Visa-Free Transit Policy
Since Jan 1, 2013, Shanghai has carried out a visa-free transit policy for travelers from 50+ countries. Travelers who have a ticket to a third country do not need to apply for a transit visa at Shanghai International Airport for stopovers within the allowed timeframe.
Conditions
- You must have a confirmed onward ticket to a third country (different from the country you departed from).
- The policy applies only to air arrivals at Shanghai Pudong or Hongqiao International Airport.
- Your total stay must be within the allowed timeframe from the time of entry.
- Your nationality must be on the eligible country list.
