72-Hour / 144-Hour Visa-Free Transit Policy

Since Jan 1, 2013, Shanghai has carried out a visa-free transit policy for travelers from 50+ countries. Travelers who have a ticket to a third country do not need to apply for a transit visa at Shanghai International Airport for stopovers within the allowed timeframe.

Conditions

1. You must have a confirmed onward ticket to a third country (different from the country you departed from).
2. The policy applies only to air arrivals at Shanghai Pudong or Hongqiao International Airport.
3. Your total stay must be within the allowed timeframe from the time of entry.
4. Your nationality must be on the eligible country list.
