Oriental Pearl Tower (东方明珠) – Shanghai's Iconic Pink Spire

The Oriental Pearl Radio & TV Tower (东方明珠广播电视塔) is Shanghai's most recognizable building — a futuristic structure rising 468 metres above the Lujiazui financial district in Pudong. Completed in 1994, its twin pink spheres glowing across the Huangpu River at night have become the symbol of modern Shanghai.
Observation Decks
- Lower Ball (263 m) – Indoor and outdoor viewing platforms with panoramic views of the Bund and Pudong.
- Upper Ball (350 m) – Spectacular 360° views; on clear days you can see 50 km in every direction.
- Space Module (468 m) – The highest accessible point, 90 m above the upper ball, for those who want the ultimate view.
- Glass Sphere (Sphere at 267 m) – A glass-floored spherical observation deck — not for the faint-hearted.
Shanghai History Museum (Base)
The base of the tower houses an excellent wax museum and the Shanghai History Museum, which recreates scenes of 1930s Shanghai with lifelike dioramas, vintage shops, and historical exhibits. Included with tower entry.
